We can all remember the days leading up to Prom! For the girls its picking out a dress and getting your nails done and a trip to the hair dresser! The the day of the make up session! For the guys its renting a tux and picking up a corsage and showing up! Not that all guys don’t look forward to their prom its just not as involved as the girls.
Its a time of excitement because its one of the first big events prior to graduation from high school! Its been 12 years of 180 day school years,EOG tests, club meetings, team practices and Final exams! You are so close to being an adult and being on your own you can almost taste it! If you have plans for college you are already envisioning packing your things and stepping into the next challenges on life.
As for your date in most cases by your senior year you are going with the guy or girl that you have feeling of love and affection for and this night is the night you get to stay a little longer than your usual curfew! Your’e growing up and becoming the man or woman you have been raised to be!
This prom night was shared with Billy and Erin! They were a joy to get to spend the late afternoon with! They had some fun ideas they wanted to try in their pictures and one was to hold a shot gun and it just so happened that I had one in the trunk of my car. You see I had been Turkey hunting earlier that day and hadn’t unloaded them yet so it worked out great! Billy and Erin also wanted a big dip kiss so we found a nice spot on the grounds of the old Cleveland County Court house in Shelby North Carolina (Presently is the Earl Scruggs Museum).
Billy’s Mom and Erins Parents were there to enjoy and witness the occasion and after we finished they were all going out to dinner. I also had Erins Dad assist in the shoot by holding a reflector. I also have a young assistant who’s name is Jordan. Jordan is only 13 but he shows a great deal of potential of being a very accomplished photographer of his own one day and that day could be very soon. Right now he helps me with equipment and does a little second shooting. As he learns and improves his skill his role will grow! I will feature him in a future blog!
This was a enjoyable day with 2 great kids and their families there to show support and love for this young couple! Please click on the picture to stroll through the gallery!
